Senior High Programs

Jesus Code / BRRICK Camp
(Building Racial Reconciliation In Christ’s Kingdom)
For youth who have completed grades 9-12

This week has all of the things camp offers: fun, new friends, the beauty of Michi-Lu-Ca, campfires, hikes and more. It also provides unique opportunities for kids to grow and see the world in a new way as they build relationships with kids of diverse backgrounds. Various elements of camp are used to help discover the ways racism shapes our world. In the end, they know themselves better and find themselves in a new community in Christ.

Counselor in Training
For youth who have completed grades 11-12
Rate Code: B
This program prepares high school seniors or recent graduates to be future camp counselors. During the training week, CIT participants will learn about the camp of their choice and the programs they offer. They will also explore the basics about caring for campers and serving as a future counselor. The second week of the experience will be coordinated with the camp director to serve as a junior counselor in a confirmation or elementary camp program. If you’ve thought to yourself “I want to come back and be a counselor,” this is a great place to start!

LTS or ALTS
(Leadership Training School
or Advanced Leadership Training School)
For youth who have completed grades 9-12

LTS is a program for high school students who have leadership potential and would like to grow in their faith and leadership skills. The week is spent in a community of growing leaders while being trained in Peer Ministry.
ALTS is a program for high school students who have attended LTS or have already been trained in Peer Ministry. The week is spent in a community of growing leaders challenged to use their skills in their congregation/community.

Senior High Camp
For youth who have completed grades 8-12

Come and experience the week that youth from around the state can’t stop talking about! Yes, this is a week of traditional camp with special experiences built into the program. At Michi-Lu-Ca, camp out one night under the stars, and spend an entire day canoeing down the Au Sable River. At Stony Lake experience all your camp favorites including sailing, kayaking, low ropes, high ropes, campfires, and a day trip to Michigan’s Adventure.

Rock and Roll Camp
For youth who have completed grades 8-12

Rockstars wanted! No previous experience required! Rock and Roll campers form bands that will gain the skills to write music, record a music video/CD, and get the chance to perform for hundreds of youth at the Bass Lake Festival. Mentors help to lead each band on their creative pursuit. Skill shops such as poetry and lyrics, music appreciation/listening, and “the music biz” work to expand the campers’ creative know-how. Talents of all kinds (from vocalists to sitar) are welcomed! This camp will end on Saturday, August 6th at 11:00am. Campers who also choose to register for Bass Lake with their Church can register for the special $49.00 rate with no deadline.

Gamer’s Camp
For youth who have completed grades 8-12

Enjoy the company of other campers as you experience new & old fantasy card games, board games, strategy games, and more! Each morning and afternoon is spent in gaming sessions where games will be introduced and played. Campers are encouraged to bring their favorite games, collection of cards, etc. The week will culminate with tournament play. This is an unplugged experience and will not include video games systems or handheld gaming devices. Campers will also experience the classic camp favorites like campfire, swimming, Silver Lake Sand Dunes, and more!

Service & Adventure Programs

Road Trip Adventures

Join us for a blended week of service and adventure this summer through Road Trip Adventures! Depart from Michigan and hit the road ready to grow in faith, help others, and gain experiences like white water rafting, kayaking, and more! This program is led by Living Water Ministries trained staff and provides a worry free experience that is all inclusive. Transportation, meals, activity fees, a t-shirt and more are all included in the registration fee! Road Trip Adventures focuses on growing the faith of youth through service and experiential learning.
Trip 1 • Chicago, Illinois • June 16-21, 2012
For youth who have completed grades 6-12
Departure will occur on Saturday from train station located closest to the majority of registrants. Experiences will include kayaking, local culture, feeding the hungry (soup kitchens & food pantries), helping the homeless, campfires, devotions, and more! Groups will return to the same train station for pick up on Thursday.
Trip 2 • Chicago, Illinois • June 23-28, 2012
For youth who have completed grades 6-12
Departure will occur on Saturday from train station located closest to the majority of registrants. Backyard Missions: Detroit
For youth who have completed grades 8-12

Looking for an affordable mission trip in your own backyard? Look no further than Backyard Missions: Detroit! This 4 night experience is an all inclusive immersion of service and learning in the city of Detroit.
Participants will engage in team-building and anti-racism training while engaging the surrounding community in acts of service feeding the hungry, helping the homeless, and loving their neighbor. This program will also include an engaging experience showcasing points of interest and/or events happening in Detroit.

Family Servant Camp

Register as a family for this multi-generational week centered on service at Michi-Lu-Ca. Youth will integrate with other age-appropriate camp programming (with a service project twist) while parents spend their days working in the local community doing service projects for organizations like Habitat for Humanity. Families will connect for breakfast and dinner, evening chapel, campfire and an optional family canoe trip down the Au Sable River guided by Michi-Lu-Ca summer staff.
Swimming, canoeing, fishing, archery, and all the other camp favorites are part of this dynamic program designed to inspire hearts of service in participants of all ages as we seek to bring living examples of Christ’s love and grace to the world.

Bass Lake Festival

Bass Lake Festival
For youth who have completed grades 8-12

Bass Lake is a Christian Music Festival for High School aged youth which provides an “outside the box,” grace-filled experience of the Christian faith. Through great music, unique learning opportunities, and a relaxed, community-building atmosphere, this event shares the Gospel with youth from all backgrounds and levels of maturity in a beautiful outdoor setting.
Participants tent or rent cabins, cook their own food, and enjoy God’s creation while experiencing dynamic speakers, bands, and worship. Join us in 2012 for our festival themed: GO!

Junior High Programs

Covenant Camp or
Confirmation Camp
For youth who have completed grades 6-8
Rate Code: C
Both camps offer junior high youth a time and place to explore faith issues in an intentional Christian community. Swimming, horseback riding, canoeing, low and high ropes challenges, and singing around the campfire are part of the week-long adventure. Covenant campers attend with their Episcopal church group and adult leader who leads their Bibles Study with a focus on their Baptismal Covenant. Confirmands attend with their ELCA church group and adult leader who leads their Bible Study with a focus on Confirmation. Individual registrations are accepted and we’ll partner your camper with an attending church group.

Junior High Camp
For youth who have completed grades 6-8

Campers will enjoy a morning Bible Study taught by a counselor, as well as low ropes challenges. The rest of the day will include a choice of swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts, volleyball, nature walks, and a high-ropes challenge course. The evenings are spent in camp-wide games, singing, campfires and devotions. Two optional activities are also available; a beautiful and scenic canoe trip and or horseback riding session with a guide. Come and join in this life-changing experience!

Elementary Programs

Elementary Camp
For youth who have completed grades 3-6
Rate Code: C
Campers will learn about God and themselves by exploring the wonders of nature, trying new activities at camp (such as swimming, arts & crafts, nature walks), and participating in a fun Bible study time. For an additional fee, campers may go horseback riding at a local Ranch. Elementary campers sing around the campfire, learn about themselves, and worship daily. It will truly be an experience they’ll never forget!

Elementary Horse Camp
For youth who have completed grades 3-6

Saddle up and head to camp for a fun filled week of horseback riding! In addition to the regular activities of Elementary Camp, horse campers go daily to Rainbow Ranch to learn about horses and basic riding techniques. Classes at Rainbow Ranch include content sessions as well as riding sessions. Don’t forget the fun you’ll have at Stony Lake: swimming, arts & crafts, evening programming, worship, and campfires. Come and experience the wonders of God’s creation though a special time with his creatures!

Day Camp Program

Day Camp
For youth age 5-12, available week 1-7
Day Camp is a ministry that is tailored to your church and community, bringing children, youth, and adults the message of the good news of Jesus Christ! An energetic staff of young adults, trained by Living Water Ministries, delivers a fun, community-centered program focused on sharing God’s love and forgiveness for kids age 5-12. Experience Christian summer camping in the comfort of your own community!
Living Water Ministries will collaborate with your congregation to tailor the experience to your needs. We will provide all programming including Bible study, arts and crafts, recreation, music, worship, and nature activities. We also offer the option of an evening family worship service, and will coordinate with you to provide a safe and healthy environment for everyone. We will also provide reproducible forms, registrations, and clip art.
We ask that your congregation provides responsibility for the health, safety, and liability of everyone involved, a steering committee to work with our staff, a site coordinator present during Day Camp, and volunteers for registration, snacks, meals and emergencies. We also ask that your congregation provides housing for our staff, and provides youth and adult volunteers to meet a 14 camper to 1 adult ratio.

Specialized Programs

Foster Care Program
July 15-20, 2012 at Michi-Lu-Ca
Living Water Ministries has partnered with LSSM to offer a special camp experience at Michi-Lu-Ca for children (grades 3-12) who are in foster care. Being away from their mom and dad while in foster care is tough on kids and this week of camp provides a safe environment to explore faith, love, and grace in a beautiful outdoor setting. The partnership between LSSM and Living Water Ministries is exciting because it is a way that we can offer an opportunity for kids in foster care to gain a sense of community in Christ.

A Week of Camp for
Your Child With Autism.
July 15-20, 2012 at Stony Lake
We believe that a summer camp experience is an opportunity for everyone. That’s why we’re offering a week of camp during the 2012 summer designed for children with high functioning autism. We’ve modified the week to meet the varied needs of children with high functioning autism to provide a unique, safe experience of integration & learning that will impact all who attend as we share in God’s grace. Here are a few ways we're tailoring the program:

Reduction of unnecessary loud noise stimulus
Visual schedules that allow campers to see what they have accomplished and what is coming next.
Increased staff to camper ratios
Training for staff to handle or help prevent "meltdowns"
Typical camp foods that are simple and straight forward
Parents may be a part of the camp community the first night to help integrate their child into a new experience.

Outdoor Abundant Life
July 2-6, 2012 at Michi-Lu-Ca

A week long experience at Michi-Lu-Ca for adults with developmental disabilities designed to develop faith, social skills, friendships, and relationship with God’s creation. Campers of all ages who are cognitively impaired but still ambulatory will live in an intentional camp community with their peers and experienced counselors. The week will explore relationships with Christ and each other through fun camp experiences including, singing, short hikes, shallow swimming, talent shows, dances, camp olympics and more.
