Reconciling in Christ

In June of 2018 the Living Water Ministries Board of Directors received a letter signed by 185 constituents urging Living Water Ministries to explore becoming a Reconciling in Christ faith community.  In short, the Reconciling in Christ (RIC) Program is for congregations, synods, colleges, seminaries, and other Lutheran organizations and ministry communities who have made a public commitment to welcome, include and celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) people.

After careful discernment, the Living Water Ministries board has decided to approve of a resolution that will be presented at both the North/West Lower Michigan Synod Assembly and the Southeast Michigan Synod Assembly in May of 2022.  At each Synod Assembly, the members of each synod will have the opportunity to publicly address their support or concerns regarding this resolution before a formal vote occurs.  To read the resolution, review the FAQ (frequently asked questions), examine the timeline of the Living Water Ministries Board of Director’s discernment, to view the communications plan regarding this resolution, to read the original letter sent to the Living Water Ministries Board of Directors, or to find public forum dates and locations please see the links below.

Feedback is also welcomed and invited.  By clicking the “submit feedback” button below you will be redirected to an on-line form that will be e-mailed to a board member once completed.
